From Lithium Power to Cobre: Martin Holland’s Journey to Transform Mining

Martin Holland co-founded Lithium Power International in 2015 and led the company to its ASX debut in June 2016 and subsequent acquisition of the Maricunga lithium project in Chile. In 2018 he sold the company for USD 400 million to spend time with his family. The interesting thing here is that he is again leading a mining company - Cobre as an executive chairman, which according to him has the potential to be way bigger than his last venture.

Martin Holland is a successful leader in the mining industry and has over 15 years of experience. He has brought multiple exploration companies to the public stock market (ASX) and raised over $200 million for discovering new sources of valuable metals worldwide.

Martin Holland is the founder of Lithium Power International (LPI), a company that played a crucial role in discovering a major lithium deposit in Chile. This discovery led to the company's acquisition by Cedelco, Chile's leading copper firm, for USD 400 million after a detailed seven-year process from the initial discovery to the sale. Holland led LPI to its debut on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) in June 2016 and was instrumental in acquiring the Maricunga lithium project in Chile. He now serves as the Executive Chairman of Cobre, a mining company with prospects he considers to have significant potential.

With a 15-year career in the mining industry, Holland has a history of bringing exploration companies to the public market and has raised over USD 200 million for the discovery of valuable metals worldwide. His experience and leadership in the mining sector have been proven through the recent successful acquisition of LPI and his ongoing work with Cobre.

Martin Holland: Elevating Cobre Since 2018

Since 2018, Martin Holland has been really important for Cobre. He understands what's happening in the market, and he's good at leading the team and making them excited to do their best. Because of Martin, Cobre has become even better and is doing things other companies haven't done before and has poured lots of his own capital into the company. For example, in the last placement Martin had contributed $400k of his own money in the placement. Below are more details of the placement recently held.

Contribution to $4 million placement

On March 4th, Cobre successfully raised $4 million to keep growing its projects in Botswana's Kalahari Copper Belt. Institutional and professional investors showed strong support by buying around 76.9 million new shares at 5.2 cents each. This capital was raised to keep the company pushing forward with its plans.

An interesting detail in this placement we found is that the Executive Chairman Martin C Holland poured his own AUD 400K into this round. This shows just how confident he is in the company. A company buying back shares or promoters or management increasing stake is positive news for the company, it tells investors and prospective investors that the management who operates the company sees a greater potential for the company in the future, if not why will they pour their own money into the company.

Martin Holland, commented: “The Cobre team is pleased to have secured additional funds which will be strategically used to accelerate exploration on the Company’s tenement holding in the Kalahari Copper Belt in Botswana”.

Cobre is pushing forward with Martin Holland and here are the key operational achievements of the company in recent times.

3 Operational Highlights of Cobre Limited

  1. Last month Cobre announced positive hydrogeological results from the Ngami Copper Project as well as the new intersection encountered when drilling the PW001 production. This positive news pushed existing as well as new investors to pour money into Cobre’s Kalahari Copper Belt  Projects.
  2. Cobre completed a $4 million placement for the further development of the Company’s Kalahari Copper Belt Projects In Botswana.
  3. Cobre Limited  recently held a completed Aircore (AC), Reverse Circulation (RC) and soil sampling programmes on the Kitlanya West Project (KITW) in the Kalahari Copper Belt (KCB), Botswana, and has found promising new targets

Investor Confidence in Cobre’s Future

Cobre Limited's recent $4 million placement for its projects in Botswana's Kalahari Copper Belt is good news for investors. With capital expenditure covered, the investment, backed by existing and new investors including major shareholders and directors, reflects confidence in the company's future. Positive results from the Ngami Copper Project and ongoing exploration in the region hint at potential growth for the company.

Martin Holland has an experience of more than 15 years in the mining industry, and he has been with Cobre for more than 6 years now, in addition, he is buying more stakes in the company. The way the company is planning and the exciting progress happening with its Ngami Project are signs that the company could grow a lot. Cobre is doing things in an economical and eco-friendly way, and the Ngami Project looks promising. With all these signs, it seems like this company could become a big success if it keeps accelerating at these levels.
