Riversgold Limited (ASX: $RGL) has announced the identification of a new high-grade volcanic massive sulphide (VMS) copper target at the Tambourah Project, located 160 km southeast of Port Hedland in Western Australia. Historical drilling by Hawkstone Minerals during 1970-71 intersected copper up to 1.1% over 30.5 meters, with rock chip results returning up to 13.8% copper. The company has also highlighted copper anomalism over a 12km strike length through geochemical sampling. Riversgold plans to validate the historical rock chip results and continue exploration on the ground from the end of next week.
The RGL team has recently reviewed the geochemical data from past lithium programs and identified a clear copper corridor running through the tenement. Historical drilling and high-grade chip samples add to the significance of this discovery. We plan to have people back on the ground from the end of next week to continue with exploration. - David Lenigas, Executive Chairman
Riversgold's identification of the new high-grade VMS copper target at Tambourah presents a significant opportunity for the company. The historical drilling and rock chip results, along with the geochemical sampling, indicate the potential for substantial copper reserves. The company's plan to validate the historical rock chip results and continue exploration demonstrates its commitment to advancing copper exploration at the Tambourah Project. With further validation and exploration, Riversgold aims to capitalize on the potential of this discovery and contribute to its corporate strategy of resource expansion and development.
