Vertex Minerals (ASX:VTX) has announced the incorporation of TOMRA Laser Sorter technology into the flow sheet and plant design for the Hill End Project. This initiative, undertaken in collaboration with Gekko, aims to enhance the sustainability and profitability of the mining operation at Reward by pre-concentrating ore using advanced sorting technology. The refurbishment and build of the plant at Gekko's Ballarat factory are progressing as planned, with the company anticipating production to commence in January 2025.
Executive Chairman, Roger Jackson, expressed satisfaction with Gekko's successful integration of the Sorter into the Hill End Gravity plant. He also conveyed excitement about the progress of the plant's construction at the Gekko Ballarat factory, looking forward to its installation and commissioning later this year.
Vertex Minerals' incorporation of TOMRA Laser Sorter technology into the Reward Gold Plant's design is expected to significantly impact the sustainability and profitability of the mining operation at Hill End. The use of ore sorting technology will lead to reduced energy and water consumption, lower operating costs, and a notable decrease in the carbon footprint. The company anticipates more than a 50% reduction in the ore processing volume, along with various environmental, social, and governance (ESG) benefits. With the refurbishment of the plant well underway, Vertex Minerals is on track to achieve its production commencement goal in January 2025. The company's strategic focus on becoming Australia's prominent high-grade gold miner and its commitment to safety, environmental, and governance standards underpin its ambitions for the Hill End Project.
