Platina Resources Limited (ASX:PGM) has confirmed the discovery of two new mineralised gold intersections at its Challa Gold Project near Mt Magnet in Western Australia. The second phase 1,856m aircore drilling program over 41 holes revealed significant gold mineralisation, with aircore hole CHAC0155 intersecting a mineralised zone of 12m @ 0.66g/t Au from 100m, including 4m @ 1.7g/t from 100m.
The mineralised zone in CHAC0155 is significant, marking the first greenfield gold intersection in drilling along the NW trending splay of the craton-scale Challa shear and within the western section of the Windimurra igneous intrusive complex. Platina's exploration strategy has proven highly effective, utilizing a systematic approach of geophysical data re-interpretation, soil sampling, and aircore drilling to target second order structures and rheological contrasting boundaries. The intercept potentially indicates that the entire splay along the geological boundary could be mineralised for over 17km on Platina's tenure.
Platina Resources' successful aircore drilling program has confirmed the presence of gold mineralisation on its tenements, providing encouragement to follow up with further drilling up-dip and along strike of the mineralisation. The company plans to resample the mineralised intersections to understand the distribution of the grade and width of the structure. If wide-scale distribution of mineralisation is confirmed, Platina intends to drill deep and shallow dip slimline RC holes to define the geometry of the mineralisation. The discovery signifies a significant milestone for Platina Resources' exploration efforts and presents an optimistic outlook for the Challa Gold Project's potential.
