NGX (ASX:NGX) has announced the successful completion of flowsheet optimization testwork. The testwork produced graphite concentrate exceeding 98% Total Graphitic Carbon (TGC). This high-purity graphite is suitable for use in lithium-ion battery anodes. The optimization increased the graphite grade from 94% to over 98% TGC without affecting recovery rates.
NGX Limited has achieved a significant milestone by enhancing the graphite concentrate from its Malingunde Natural Graphite Project in Malawi to over 98% TGC. This advancement positions the company to provide high-purity graphite for lithium-ion batteries, offering substantial advantages in downstream processing, including reduced reagent consumption and environmental benefits. The high-grade concentrate is under assessment by a Tier-1 anode producer, and NGX plans to utilize the remaining sample for further development of vertically integrated ore-to-anode materials. The company's focus remains on process optimization and engaging with potential off-take partners to meet market demands. NGX's strategic direction is set towards becoming a key player in the lithium-ion battery supply chain, leveraging its innovative graphite processing technology.
The high-grade concentrate has been sent to a Tier-1 customer for assessment and will be used by NGX for further downstream testwork as part of its ongoing qualification program.
