Mental health issues, including problems with alcohol or drug use, are becoming more common, now affecting one in eight people worldwide. Conditions like depression and anxiety are not only widespread but also costly, taking a toll of about $1 trillion on the world's economy each year. In the U.S., serious mental health conditions, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, affect one in 25 adults.
