Alara Resources Limited (ASX: $AUQ) has commenced the commissioning of its Wash-hi Majaza Copper-Gold Processing Plant in Oman, with the production of the first copper concentrate on track for the end of the current quarter. The company reported that the electrical & mechanical installation is 100% complete, and the construction of the dry tailing storage facility is 80% completed. Additionally, the operational workforce recruitment is 95% complete, and the dry commissioning of most equipment has been achieved.
The project faced challenges due to manufacturing defects in certain critical parts, leading to the rescheduling of hot commissioning dates. However, the company has successfully completed commissioning procedures for the majority of plant sections and is ready to commence hot commissioning of the entire plant in February 2024. The construction of the dry processed tailings storage facility is nearing completion, and the operational readiness in terms of workforce recruitment and equipment preparation is at an advanced stage.
