Cosmo Metals Ltd (ASX: $CMO) has completed the acquisition of 100% of La Zarza Minerals Pty Ltd, the holder of the Kanowna Gold Project. This acquisition has expanded Cosmo's landholding to in excess of 22km2. The Kanowna Gold Project is located approximately 13km northeast of Kalgoorlie, adjacent to Northern Star's Kanowna Belle Mine, which has produced over 5.4Moz Au since 1993. The project comprises 12 Prospecting Licenses in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia, a prolific gold producing region globally. Cosmo Metals also continued to evaluate strategic options for the Minjina Zn-Pb-Ag prospect and the advanced Mt Venn Cu-Ni-Co project, as well as conducting desktop studies on the Wurnda Lithium Project applications.
The Company's geologists have defined a new geological model for the Kanowna Gold Project, identifying compelling aircore and RC targets for immediate follow up. The upcoming exploration campaign at the Kanowna Gold Project will include up to 2,000m of RC drilling to test high-priority targets at Don Álvaro, Laguna Verde, WKL, and Dugite. Additionally, shallow aircore drilling is planned to cover zones where favorable NE-trending structures intersect supergene gold and pathfinder anomalies in the project area. The Company is also considering surface electrical geophysics (IP) surveys to further refine targets. Furthermore, the Company has received approvals for the planned programs and is awaiting heritage surveys to be completed before drilling can commence.
Cosmo Metals' recent acquisition of the Kanowna Gold Project and the expansion of its landholding to over 22km2 mark significant developments for the company. The upcoming exploration activities at the Kanowna Gold Project, including RC drilling and aircore drilling, demonstrate the company's commitment to advancing its projects. The identification of compelling targets and the consideration of additional geophysical surveys indicate a proactive approach to exploration. Furthermore, the Company's evaluation of strategic options for other prospects and the ongoing desktop studies on the Wurnda Lithium Project applications reflect a multi-faceted approach to its exploration and acquisition strategy. With a strong focus on exploration and development, Cosmo Metals is poised to capitalize on the potential of its projects and drive future growth.
