Firebird Metals Limited (ASX:FRB) has announced that its subsidiary, Hunan Firebird Battery Technologies (HFBT), has successfully obtained the key Environmental Permit for Stage 1 of the Battery Grade Manganese Sulphate Project in China. This permit is a crucial step in the construction and operation of the plant, marking significant progress for the company.
Firebird Managing Director, Peter Allen, expressed, 'We continue to execute steadfastly on our vision and set the platform for Firebird to become a near-term low-cost high-purity manganese sulphate producer. The speed at which the Company is progressing in China is testament to the significant levels of support we have had and continue to receive from the Jinshi Government. Firebird is in the most exciting position the Company has ever been in since listing in 2021, as we look to progress and finalise offtake discussions, make a final investment decision in late Q4 and work toward starting production in late 2025.'
The receipt of the Environmental Permit for the battery grade manganese sulphate plant in China is a significant achievement for Firebird Metals. The company's strategic location offers commercial benefits and synergistic opportunities, as evidenced by the MOUs signed with cement and brick manufacturing plants for the disposal of leach residue. With the Energy Permit expected in the coming weeks and a Final Investment Decision anticipated in late Q4 2024, Firebird is poised to commence construction and aims to start operations in late 2025. This milestone aligns with the company's ambition to become a leading producer of high-purity manganese sulphate, capitalizing on the growing demand for manganese in batteries and delivering value to its shareholders.
