Great Western Exploration (ASX:GTE) has announced the completion of preparations for the drilling of the giant Oval Copper-Gold Targets in Western Australia. The company has engaged experienced drilling contractor Blue Spec Drilling to complete the program, which is anticipated to commence in approximately two weeks, subject to no further heavy rainfall at Paroo Station, the property adjacent to the targets.
The Oval and Oval South Targets, originally defined by a Rio Tinto EM Survey in the late-1990s, are coincident EM conductivity and gravity highs, located on the intersection of a crustal scale and basin defining fault, and within favorable stratigraphy of the Yerrida Basin for copper-gold mineralization formation. The drilling program comprises four diamond drill-holes with holes ranging between 600 to 800 meters depth, focusing on the co-incident gravity and electromagnetic anomalism at Oval and Oval South. The company interprets these coincident features as representing potential metal-rich sulphide mineralization.
Great Western Exploration has completed preparations for the drilling of the giant Oval Copper-Gold Targets in Western Australia. The company believes that the multiple coincident geological and geophysical attributes of Oval and Oval South represent Winu and Haverion-style intrusive-related copper-gold mineralization, highlighting the potential for a very large copper-gold discovery. The drilling program, comprising four diamond drill-holes, is anticipated to commence in approximately two weeks, subject to no further heavy rainfall. The company's interpretation of the coincident features at Oval and Oval South as potential metal-rich sulphide mineralization further underscores the significance of this drilling program. Additionally, the company has received approval for co-funding by the Western Australian Government under the Exploration Incentive Scheme, which represents a significant endorsement of the prospectivity of the Oval and Oval South Targets.
