Metals Australia (ASX: MLS) has announced significant developments in their Lac Carheil graphite project located in Quebec, Canada. The company has received necessary permits for a drilling program set to occur in the winter season. This initiative aims to potentially double the project's existing mineral resource.
Metals Australia's Lac Carheil project is set for significant growth with an expansion of its project area by 115% through 234 new claims. These additions strategically enhance the prospects for graphite and iron ore exploration. The company plans a winter drilling program with hopes to double the current mineral resource, extending the project's life beyond the 15 years outlined in the Scoping Study. In addition, extensive metallurgical testing is nearing completion to optimize the flake graphite concentrate production process. This development comes amidst heightened demand for domestic graphite sources, aligning with Canadian governmental strategies to reduce dependency on Chinese exports. Metals Australia is also seeking grant funding in the USA and Canada to further support their research and development efforts. The company is optimistic about attracting interest from potential offtake partners and securing additional funding opportunities.
We are pleased with the strategic growth in project claims and remain focused on advancing the Lac Carheil Project for the benefit of our stakeholders.
