Narryer Metals Limited (ASX: $NYM) has reported the successful completion of its initial drill program at the Rocky Gully REE project in Western Australia. The program has identified carbonatite rock and related alteration in drill core, as well as evidence of rare earth element (REE) and high-grade scandium mineralisation from the first round of samples submitted for assay.
The initial drill program was successful in identifying a carbonatite intrusive at Rocky Gully, and the confirmation of REE and high-grade scandium mineralisation in our first assays is highly encouraging. Whilst we have only completed 2 diamond holes to-date, we have well defined targets for the next phase of drilling. This includes stepping out from the previous drill area at the Ivar Prospect with aircore drilling, and then RC drilling of both magnetic and gravity targets developed from ground surveys completed in 2023. Carbonatites are very high value targets, as has been shown by recent discoveries in the West Arunta region of Western Australia by WA1 Resources and Encounter Resources and the established Mt Weld REE Deposit, operated by Lynas Rare Earths. The Rocky Gully Project complements our Canadian Lithium Projects well to form our clear focus on critical mineral exploration.
The results from the initial drill program at Rocky Gully provide a near term opportunity for the Company, with plans for additional aircore and RC drilling underway. The next phase of drilling will focus on a distinctive gravity high yet to be tested and several magnetic targets. The scandium mineralisation, relatively shallow, will be investigated with a low-cost aircore drilling program. Narryer Metals aims to capitalize on the identified targets and further explore the potential of the Rocky Gully REE project.
