Neometals launches innovative recycling plant
Neometals (ASX:NMT) has announced the opening of Europe's first integrated mechanical-hydrometallurgical lithium-ion battery recycling plant in Kuppenheim, Germany. Developed in collaboration with Primobius GmbH and Mercedes-Benz, the plant aims to recover key materials such as lithium, nickel, and cobalt from used batteries.
Neometals' strategic recycling development
Neometals (ASX:NMT), along with its joint venture Primobius GmbH, has launched a pioneering lithium-ion battery recycling plant in Germany, with Mercedes-Benz as a key collaborator. The plant, which can process 2,500 tons of battery materials annually, enables the recovery of essential metals like lithium, nickel, and cobalt for reuse in new battery modules. This initiative aligns with Neometals' goal of creating sustainable and energy-efficient recycling solutions, contributing to a circular economy. The project also marks a significant step in their five-year research collaboration with Mercedes-Benz, aiming to advance industrial-scale battery recycling technologies.
