Talga Group Ltd (ASX: $TLG) has completed a mining study into expansion options for the Vittangi Graphite Project in Sweden, as part of a wider integrated Scoping Study aimed at expanding the company's initial 19,500 tonnes anode per annum production of low-emission graphite anode products for lithium-ion battery markets.
Talga Group CEO, Martin Phillips, stated, 'Our large-scale Swedish graphite project is a key alternative source of strategic raw materials to support the EU's ambitions and the demand from key export markets. The completed mining study underpins the Scoping Study underway to outline expansion options to supply the global battery anode market beyond our initial 19,500tpa project.'
The completion of the interim scoping study for the Vittangi Anode Project by Talga Group Ltd marks a significant step towards expanding the production of low-emission graphite anode products for lithium-ion battery markets. The study outlines optimized underground mining methods, potential production rates, and the transition to underground mining to minimize environmental impact. Talga plans to conduct further environmental and social studies in 2024 and aims to complete the Scoping Study, encompassing downstream anode refinery expansions, by Q4 2024. The company also intends to extend mine life through exploration activities and move existing exploration targets to mineral resource estimates. The completion of the study reflects Talga's commitment to meeting the growing demand for lithium-ion battery materials and supporting global energy transitions.
