Yancoal Australia Ltd (ASX:YAL) has been added to the S&P/ASX 200 and S&P/ASX 300 indices, effective from 23 September 2024. This inclusion marks a significant milestone for the company, coinciding with its 20th anniversary and 12 years since its listing on the ASX. Yancoal's CEO, David Moult, expressed optimism about the company's future prospects following this development.
This is a welcome event in Yancoal's 20th anniversary year, and 12 years since its listing on the ASX. We were encouraged to see the notable increase in the Company's market valuation, average daily turnover and shareholder base during recent years as we recovered from extended rain disruptions and our free float increased. Yancoal provides investors with direct exposure to international coal markets. In the 12 months to 30 June 2024, Yancoal operations produced over 62 million tonnes of ROM coal and 36 million tonnes of attributable saleable coal. Our anticipated production rate over the remainder of 2024 puts us on track to be the second largest coal producer in Australia. We see the Company's inclusion in the S&P ASX indices providing a further opportunity to expand our investor base and bolster the trading liquidity of our shares.
Yancoal's addition to the S&P/ASX 200 and S&P/ASX 300 indices signifies a significant achievement, reflecting the company's growth and recovery from challenges such as extended rain disruptions. The CEO's positive outlook on the company's future prospects, with anticipated production rates positioning Yancoal as the second largest coal producer in Australia, indicates a strong corporate strategy. The inclusion in major ASX indices is expected to expand the investor base and enhance the trading liquidity of Yancoal's shares, aligning with the company's goal of providing investors with direct exposure to international coal markets. With the upcoming 2024 Third Quarter Production Report, Yancoal continues to maintain transparency and scheduled disclosures, demonstrating its commitment to stakeholders and investors.
